Live Edge Table Showcase Video

We're going to try a new thing to promote our builds. Similar to showcasing cars we had the idea to shoot a unique video for each piece we create. The blend of natural elements and industrial design together is obviously very appealing. It is art. Why not showcase these pieces and their personality with media unique to each? We hope to create content that captures the soul of each piece.

This idea came about as we were trying to figure out a way to better display the beauty of a recent live edge cherry table build. We took pictures from all angles and none of them came close to what we saw in person. We discussed background, setting and staging, then took more pictures. Still...pictures did not do this piece justice.

Fresh off a recent snow, I thought maybe a different background might set this table apart and better display its features. We placed it outside, the woods for a backdrop. As I began taking pictures I was drawn to the contrast. The contrast of an indoor piece, crafted organically with industrial legs being showcased outside. The contrast in colors appealed to me as well. The soft blues cast upon the snowy ground from the shadows of surrounding trees proved a great compliment to the marbled apricot of this particular cherry slab. Throw in the matte black sharp lines of the minimal stainless steel legs, accentuated against the white snow and you can begin to feel the color palette come to life. You start placing yourself at that table, hosting guests, having dinner or retiring to a study to watch snow or rain fall while reading (or writing) a good book.

When editing this footage together I wanted to capture that feeling while still paying close attention to the details of the table. During this process is when the "soul" I spoke to earlier really came into play. It began to take on its own personality. Certain tracks, certain angles just didn't fit right. Others did. After trying out many different "looks and sounds" there were only a few that became the perfect marriage between nature, design, sound and soul.

This is when I thought it would be interesting to have a unique media for each build, providing a personality behind the functionality. After all, the cherry used for this table was literally once a living, breathing thing.
